Since studying with Anthony during her graduate work at Wesleyan University, Rhodes has regularly performed and recorded as a member of various Braxton ensembles. These include his Pine Top Aerial Music Sextet and the Tri-Centric Vocal Ensemble. In 2007, Rhodes recorded a duo album with Anthony, which is available from Leo Records. In 2010, she premiered the role of Sundance in the studio recording of Braxton's opera Trillium E, available on New Braxton House.

broadcloth

Photo by Carolyn Wachnicki Broadcloth performs improvised music with a nod to various compositional outlets. Using a unique instrumentation of voice, cello (Nathan Bontrager) and accordion/recorders (Adam Matlock), the trio plays from notated, graphic, embroidered, and textual scores in addition to completely spontaneous pieces. Without shying away from virtuosity, Broadcloth creates music that reflects the order of composition and the risk of unpredictable musical interactions. Emphasis lies on establishing a holistic sound that favors cooperation over hierarchy.
